“…If you had any understanding of the Bible and of God you would understand...”
– Jack Thompson, famed video game persecutor and god-fearing lawyer, justifies how it’s “good” when problems happen to Chrisitans and “bad” when they happen to anyone else. Way to go common sense fail.

Holy shit, "The Road" may be closer than we think. →
I just read the book a couple weeks ago, and now a shit-ton of mini earthquakes under Yellowstone, where there is a supervolcano. Now the earth moves in slow time, but with supervolcano, the Big One due at any second, peak oil, and uncertain global warming futures (ie, the Greenland cool air “water mover” threatening to shut down any day now) I’m ready to be one of those...

The other view of Slumdog Millionaire →
I really really liked Slumdog, thought it was inventive, told a decent story (though not a new one), and wasn’t too much of any one thing, in a good way. This seems to be the consensus, but here’s the other side, which isn’t hard to grasp either, something that i did start to feel at times, that it’s exploitive, manipulative, and above, a liberal’s dream movie, one...

“more than 10 million of the 13 million tracks available on the internet failed to find a single buyer last year.”? seriously? damn. 80 per cent of all revenue came from around 52,000 tracks. For albums, the figures were even more stark. Of the 1.23 million available, only 173,000 were ever bought, meaning 85 per cent did not sell a single copy all year. dude harsh, would suck to be...

50 things we know now that we didn’t know this time last year 6. Stress causes human brain cells to either shrink or grow, leaving victims of serious stress with dramatic changes to their nervous systems. 12. The use of social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace on company computers leads to increased productivity. 19. People in a position to hire are biased against applicants...

how Capitalist is this…I’m not sure how much I dislike/like iTunes (I preview music in WinAmp before actually adding it to my library, so iTunes is more for ipod management and playlists etc), but Songbird IS by Mozilla and it’s free, and it integrates lots of cool stuff….hmmm, maybe i’ll try it out, maybe not. interesting though.

This year’s top baby name phonics? “Aa” and “Ah”. Girls top 10: 2)Ava 5)Abigail 8)Addison 9)Madeline. Boys top 10: 1)Aidan 2) Jayden 3)Jacob 6)Caden 7)James 8)Caleb 9)Andrew 10)Matthew. In 20 years, if you want to guess some young kid’s name in a bar, start with one of those two sounds and you’re more than likely golden.

Tom Cruise as dissertation →
Kinda like reading a good student’s essay on comparing a movie icon with a socioeconomic movement for Film Appreciation 403, still a pretty brutal takedown of the inessentialness of Tom Cruise, the actor.

family style
I know my mom has this obvious wish that her two sons will become brotherly after years of seperation and half-siblingdom, but it’s just not in the cards I don’t think. The older I get, the more I realize that for me, family isn’t quite as important as the people I choose to associate with. Blood means something, but not as much after 15 years and 3000 miles.

Oh I know what I'm riding to for the next couple...
Forget anything I tumblr’d (wow, really? is that really the past tense?) before about favorite album of the year. Now that I’ve FINALLY gotten around to listening to it, Saul Williams’s (and Trent Reznor’s) “The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NIggy Tardust” will take the top spot in the library, I can guarentee that. Then again, I like a lot of bombast and...
